London Irish issue statement after Wasps merger speculationThe possibility of a merger between Wasps and London Irish has been dismissed as 'total and utter speculation'. The Rugby Paper reported on Sunday that the Gallagher Premiership rivals could potentially be merging with Wasps, who would leave Coventry to seal the deal. Wasps are set to enter into administration today (Monday, October 17) after failing to secure a takeover or investment in time, with HMRC chasing £2million in unpaid taxes. London Irish, who were put up for sale by owner Mick Crossan in September, are reportedly set to be 'the next club forced into administration' - according to The Rugby Paper. However, the Exiles have hit back the front page story in a statement issued on its club website.
